The Marimekko Torna Unikko Bag is made of black heavyweight cotton canvas. A large white poppy, a contemporary version of the iconic Unikko, is printed on one side of the bag. The bag is the perfect size for hauling groceries, work supplies, or a change of clothes. It has two handles and one interior pocket. The fabric is printed in Helsinki.
The Unikko (poppy) design was created in 1964 by Maija Isola. Armi Ratia, Marimekko’s founder, initially forbid the design of floral patterns. Armi believed flowers were more beautiful in nature than on textiles. Her opinion changed, and the Unikko pattern has become Marimekko’s unofficial logo.
