The Marimekko Pieni Unikko Tea Towel is made from a cotton and linen blend. It features Marimekko’s iconic poppy pattern in dark red, light grey, white and yellow.
The Unikko (poppy) pattern was designed in 1964 by Maija Isola. At that time, Marimekko’s founder Armi Ratia ruled out the design of floral patterns. She believed flowers were more beautiful in nature than on textiles. Over time Ratia’s opinion changed. Today, this famous poppy is recognized as the symbol of Marimekko.
