The Pieni Unikko kitchen textile set includes an oven mitt and a potholder. Both products are made of unbleached cotton, with padded fillings and hanging loops. The set is printed in Marimekko’s iconic poppy pattern in red and brown.
The Unikko (poppy) pattern was designed in 1964 by Maija Isola. At that time, Marimekko’s founder Armi Ratia ruled out the design of floral patterns. She believed flowers were more beautiful in nature than on textiles. Eventually her opinion changed, and today this famous poppy is known as the symbol of Marimekko.
