In 1952 Finnish designer Tapio Wirkkala created Tapio, his signature glassware series. The Iittala Tapio White Wine Glass has a hand-made bubble suspended in its base. The unique method of producing the glass bubble is done with a wooden stick, but only when the the glass is at the correct consistency and temperature.
Tapio Wirkkala designed more than 400 glass objects for Iittala over the span of his career.
