CH88T | CHAIR
Although known for his work in wood throughout his career, Hans J. Wegner often explored the limits and potential of other materials. The carefully considered CH88T dining chair is one such example. The design was initially developed by Wegner as a prototype with colored legs. It was displayed at the international Helsingborg Exhibition in Sweden in 1955. Decades later, Carl Hansen & Søn put the chair into production in celebration of the 2014 centennial of Wegner’s birth. The CH88T is versatile, elegant and functional. Its convenient stackable design seamlessly joins wood and industrial steel, showcasing Wegner’s skill in lending softness to minimalist forms. The steel frame supports an oval wooden seat and steam-bent backrest with elegantly upturned ends forming a natural resting place for the forearms. The CH88T chair is available with the seat and backrest in beech, or oak in a range of finishes. The frame is available in stainless steel and black powder coated steel. The CH88P chair is available with seat in leather or fabric.
