It’s that first cool day of September that brings back all of my favorite Fall memories.
I step outside first thing in the morning to discover the air temperature is about ten degrees cooler than expected. The humidity has dissipated. And I feel compelled to take a deep breath of that fresh, cool air. I smile and realize maybe I can let go of the summer after all. Instantly, I think of all of my favorite things to do in the cool Fall weather. Wearing chunky sweaters, knitting, drinking apple cider, watching football, eating chili and walking through crunchy leaves top the list. I am ready to find a few special items that will help make this year’s Fall season special.
First of all, I need a comfortable and cozy place to sit while I knit scarves and watch Sunday afternoon football games. While there are many contenders, I have chosen the Lamino Chair. I’m not usually one for animal skins, but this sheepskin is so luxurious! With the matching ottoman providing a place to put my feet up, I can’t go wrong.
Next would be a cozy blanket preferably made from a natural fiber, such as cotton or wool. I find these to be the most comfortable and long lasting. I usually have a blanket over my lap so I can leave a window cracked. The smell of freshly fallen leaves never gets old. These cotton blankets from David Fussenegger are so very soft and I love the color combinations.
Wearing sweaters is possibly my most favorite part of the cooler (or freezing cold) parts of the year in Wisconsin. This Dale of Norway Anniversary Unisex Sweater hits the spot. The design is a Norwegian classic and the high quality wool sweater will last for many years to come. I can’t decide if I should get it for myself or for my husband! Either way, I’ll be wearing it.
As I’ll be facing the TV for much of my evenings and weekends this Fall, I want an attractive and functional TV stand to hold my entertainment equipment. I am drawn towards the horizontal louvered solid wood front of the Corridor TV Stand. The fact that I don’t have to open the doors to turn on the sound bar is exceptional.
I mentioned that one of my cool weather favorites is eating (and making) chili. Usually, the consumption of delicious, hot chili is done while sitting around the table with family or friends. Dressing up my table with a tablecloth creates a substantial visual impact with minimal effort. This Splash Tablecloth contrasts well with my solid wood serveware. I think it will also make quite an impression this holiday season underneath my white china.
What are your cool weather favorites?
