The Seed Bandit tile is a glazed ceramic tile inspired by the work of Charley Harper and handmade at the Motawi Tileworks in Ann Arbor Michigan. The seed bandit, a bold chickadee, looks directly forward, and is quite pleased with himself. The tile’s simple geometric design, brilliant colors, and exquisite craftsmanship make it a wonderful gift for the nature lover. It is a raised line tile with small ridges which form the design and contain the hand-applied glaze. Charley Harper (1922-2007) was a self-described “minimal realist.” The print which inspired this tile is “Generation Gasp (Family of Chickadees)” (1968).
An optional easel is available. It is specifically designed to hold Motawi tiles. A notch is also provided in the back of the tile for hanging. The tile is 5/8″ thick and 3-13/16″ square.
Made by hand in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
