The Coonley Playhouse Motawi Tile is based on an art glass window design from the Avery Coonley Playhouse in Riverside, Illinois designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. This tile is composed of bold geometric circles and squares in primary colors. The design is an adaptation of one of the school’s many art glass windows. Playful primary colors and geometric shapes are artfully arranged inside of a thick black border.
Motawi tiles use a raised-line technique that allows for a great amount of detail. Raised ridges create the design and contain the hand-applied glaze. Clean lines and precise details make these tiles true works of art.
An optional display easel is specifically designed for Motawi Tiles. Tile has a notch in the back for hanging. Made by hand in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
