The Unikko Stick Umbrella is sure to keep you dry in all kinds of weather. It is printed in Marimkko’s famous poppy print in coral, green and taupe. The umbrella is lightweight and generously-sized with a polyester canopy. It has an aluminum frame, a sturdy curved handle and a semi-automatic, open trigger mechanism.
The Unikko (poppy) pattern was designed in 1964 by Maija Isola. At that time, Marimekko’s founder Armi Ratia ruled out the design of floral patterns. She believed flowers were more beautiful in nature than on textiles. Over time Ratia’s opinion changed. Today, this famous poppy is recognized as the symbol of Marimekko.
