The Marimekko Oiva Unikko Deep Plate features their famous poppy pattern in dark blue. Made from durable brown stoneware, the bowl has a clear glaze all over except on the top side of its rim which is left unglazed and naturally rough. It is dishwasher, microwave, oven and freezer safe.
The Unikko (poppy) pattern was designed in 1964 by Maija Isola. At that time, Marimekko’s founder Armi Ratia ruled out the design of floral patterns. She believed flowers were more beautiful in nature than on textiles. Over time, Ratia’s opinion changed. Today, this famous poppy is known as the symbol of Marimekko.
