About the Designer
Tapio Wirkkala designed the Ultima Thule series in the 1960s. Thousands of hours were spent perfecting the glass-blowing technique required to produce its unique effect. Wirkkala’s contributions to the world of functional art include everything from the design of glassware to banknotes.
