Created in 1958 by Arne Jacobsen, The Swan Sofa was a part of Jacobsen’s proposal for the SAS Hotel in Copenhagen where his holistic design philosophy was being implemented. Technologically advanced for its time, the Swan Sofa is void of straight lines with only curves to exhibit. The sofa’s fluid curves are aptly named, creating for the user a snug nook that encourages the body into an easy-going position. The Swan Sofa was in production from 1964-1974, and then reintroduced in 2000.
A molded synthetic material serves as the skeleton for the chair and an cold-cured foam layer provides absolute comfort. Many leather and fabric upholstery options are available. The Swan Chair provides a little friend for the Swan Sofa. A shaker base made of satin polished aluminum supports this lovely sofa.
