Green Makes an Appearance (Outdoors and In!)

Green Makes an Appearance (Outdoors and In!)

As Apartment Therapy and other home design sources have noted in recent weeks, sustainability isn’t the only green trend currently transforming interior decor. At the 2011 Home & Housewares show in March, shoppers and bloggers alike noticed one thing: the incredible concentration of chartreuse, kelly, viridian, and other emerald shades present in the show’s displays. Items from ottomans to frying pans are participating in the trend, which is by no means limited to American designers. Most notably, Paris’ own Maison et Objet showcased a wide variety of green hues.

Green has always been a favorite color of mine, but in light of how long and dismal winter in Madison was this year, I am happy to get glimpses of it anywhere I can, from lush grass to a beautiful sofa. Accessorizing with green is a great way to brighten up neutral spaces, and a large green furniture piece adds an unconventional punch of color with lasting impact. Perfect for spring and summer, the color smoothly transitions into fall and winter with help from the gem tones featured so prevalently in this season’s accessory designs.

The store’s showroom is similarly stocked with these gorgeous shades. Make your guests green with envy by including one of these pieces in your home!
