Shipping Policy

The Century House will always strive to ship items purchased on our site in the most efficient manner.  Often this means that items will ship direct from our manufacturers to you via FedEx or UPS.  Other items will ship from our store to you.  Therefore, if you order multiple items they may ship at different times and with different methods.  In so doing we hope to minimize the resources and money involved.  If you have questions at any point regarding the shipping of your order, please, don't hesitate to contact us.

Most orders that can be placed on our site will ship using one of the following methods. We will contact you prior to any shipment to confirm the details.

Small Package

This is the most common type of order. This means all smaller items that can be shipped using a common carrier. These smaller items may be shipping direct from us or from our manufacturers and could be sent via UPS, FedEx, or USPS.  Whatever the carrier we will provide you with shipment confirmation and tracking numbers.  Depending upon the item, different methods of shipment may be used.  We will always favor the least expensive method, although you should feel free to let us know if you have a preference.  Always feel free to contact us if you have concerns or special needs regarding the shipping of Small Packages.

Standard Delivery

This is for items that cannot ship via common carrier, such as larger furniture.  A freight delivery will often be the method of shipping used for these items.  This method usually results in a set fee to you and will be specified on the item page.  Unless otherwise indicated on Century House's product detail pages, items that ship via freight will be brought to the curbside only.  Items will not be delivered inside your door, will not be assembled or placed in your room of choice.  Please be aware that this may require that you have assistance when receiving these deliveries if the item is large or unwieldy.

After your order is placed and processed, you will be contacted by the freight carrier to schedule a delivery appointment (typically during M-F business hours). Please note: you must to be present to receive a freight delivery.

With freight deliveries, you are required to inspect the packaging and items immediately upon receipt and indicate on the packaging and/or paperwork if there is visible damage. You may choose to refuse delivery of the item(s) only if the damage appears severe. Please contact us if you need any specific information or instructions on how to receive your shipment.

Inside Delivery

For Larger items. There is often an option for Inside delivery. This type of delivery means that the item/items will be carried inside of the first entrance to your building. (thus getting things off the the curb!)  With this type of delivery you may still have packaging and/or any assembly to contend with.  

White Glove Delivery

Certain larger items will have the possibility of a White Glove delivery.  We favor a White Glove delivery for most furniture items as this offers added protection for products while in transit and can assist you with getting your items fully set up in your home. White Glove can include unloading items from the truck, delivery inside your home, set-up and assembly and removal of all packaging debris.

White Glove deliveries are at a higher cost.  The Century House pays a portion of these costs, though we must charge for the extra services involved.  These extra charges will appear as Shipping Options on the item page.  There are different levels of service available for most White Glove deliveries. The Details of what is included for any given item will usually be included on the Product page.

It is important to contact us with any special circumstances or delivery instructions related to a White Glove Delivery.  

If the product you are interested in does not show the option of a White Glove Delivery, you can always get in touch with us to make these special arrangements.

Like freight shipping, you will be contacted by the carrier to schedule a delivery appointment (typically during M-F business hours), at which you will need to be present to inspect the merchandise for any signs of damage.

Expected Delivery Times

We process your order within 1 business day of receiving it.  If your order is being shipped from our store, please allow up to 48 hours for your order to be sent.  Discrepancies with billing information or any other required personal data may delay shipment of your order.

Each product should indicate an estimated shipping time. Please note that this is the time it may take for the item to leave from the manufacturer.  Transit time will vary depending on shipping method and your shipping address.  Small Packages may take 3-10 days to arrive and items shipped via Freight or White Glove can take up to 3 weeks.

Shipment Notification

After your order is submitted, processed, approved and shipped, you will be sent a shipment notification.  This will contain carrier information (FedEx, UPS, etc.) along with a tracking number.

International Shipping

At this time, we ship only to addresses within the contiguous 48 United States.

Return Policy

We want you to be happy with your order and your experience shopping at The Century House Online! That said, we completely understand that keeping the return process simple is part of that enjoyable shopping experience.

 

Before returning an item, please contact The Century House to obtain return instructions. Items must be unused, in their original condition, and in their original packaging.

 

The return must be post-marked within 14 days of receiving the item. Once we receive your return, please allow 1-2 weeks for processing. Refunds are made in the same form as the original payment or by store credit. You will be refunded the full purchase price of the item (including tax) less any shipping fees you paid on the order. Also, if the return is not due to damaged merchandise, you are responsible for shipping the returned item to us. Please note: Special Order items cannot be returned. Please note: that for items that include free shipping, customers will be responsible for round-trip shipping costs for any returns that are not damaged or incorrect.

 

If you have received an item that has been damaged during shipment, please contact The Century House immediately. Photos are often required and always suggested so that a claim may be made with the shipping company.

 

Please keep in mind that once an order has shipped, it cannot be canceled. If you refuse an order, it will then fall under our standard refused shipment policy, where round-trip shipping costs will be deducted from your refund.

We cannot accept returns on items damaged through normal wear and tear.

The Century House gift certificates are nonrefundable.

Items purchased in store may be subject to other terms and conditions than what is stated here.
