HermanMiller® Nelson® Coconut Chair
Introduced in 1955, the Coconut Chair by George Nelson remains an iconic mid-century modern lounge chair shown in museums worldwide. When designing the Coconut Chair, George Nelson wanted to create a comfortable lounge chair that allows for a person to sit in various positions. The unique 3-point design provides comfort and flexibility, allowing a person to sit sideways or to curl up. The top point is a bit longer than the other two, extending the back support of the chair.
A white plastic shell and a 3-pointed bent steel base create the structure of the Coconut Chair. A thick, one piece foam rubber cushion upholstered in a supple black leather creates a luxurious and comfortable sitting experience. Tough nylon glides are attached to the bottom of the steel legs.
